2 Days Down, 178 To Go

Hey hey hey!! How are you? I hope you're all doing good! I just wanted to post a little life update, cause things have happened (lol that sounds so dramatic).
So today I had my second day of school. I survived but I can already tell this year is gonna be tough. I have all honors and AP classes, and I've already had a ton of homework (not even including summer work). I like most of my teachers though, which makes classes better. OH and this year I drive to school instead of taking the bus which makes life so much better. My hatred for the bus is unrivaled by almost everything on this Earth.
I have a drawing class to which I'm super pumped about. I got special permission from the art department to take drawing since technically I don't have enough credits to take it yet. I love drawing so much; it's my favorite art form. I don't think I've talked about art much on here, but I'm very involved in the fine arts, and it is honestly one of my passions. I'm even considering minoring in fine arts in college. Wow I've gotten off track. Anyways, I don't have any friends in my drawing class but I don't even mind. I'd rather be alone at a table and be able to work without distractions, if I'm being honest. At least in an art class. I love my precalc teacher, and so far I really like the class. Hmm what else. I do have seven classes total, but nothing very interesting has happened yet in any others.
I hope your first day of school goes or went well!! Peace out from a very tired junior :)

With tons of love,
Em

ps. Go check out my highlights of summer if you haven't already.. one post down ;)

The Highlights of Summer '16

Hey guys! So, I'm sorry that this is coming to you a day late. I totally forgot yesterday, whoops. I know I said I would be doing back to school posts, but today I was looking through my pictures and feeling a lil sad that summer is coming to an end. I couldn't face making a back to school post, so I decided to make almost like a photo diary of the summer instead.
*Disclaimer*
All these photos are my own.

On the last day of school, I hosted a party and me and my friends
celebrated the end of the school year. We tried to take an ~artsy~ picture and this is what happened. I like it anyways.

I went with my friends to watch the Old Home Days fireworks. They were
so impressive for our little town. My friend brought candy
and glow sticks, and we got super hopped up on sugar.

My friend, B*, convinced me that we should go see the sunrise at the beach. We woke
up at 4 and drove to the beach. We brought a blanket, and had donuts and coffee
for breakfast, and then went swimming. The beach was completely empty,
and the sunrise was gorgeous. The picture doesn't do it justice.

I went to this stunning historic mansion on the beach that was built in the 1920s.
The tour was so cool, and the views were, well, you can see.

I celebrated the 4th with my friends and family and, of course, a ton of sparklers.

My family and I traveled to CANADA!

Niagara Falls to be exact. We went for a week, and it was one of the most
beautiful places I have ever been.

The American Falls

The Canadian Falls

We watched the fireworks over the falls. The fireworks were incredible;
I have never seen anything like them. It was perfect.

When we were in Canada, I saw my first Great Lake. I was awestruck. I could have
sat on those rocks for hours. I mean, I've seen oceans before. But all of the lakes I've been to are minuscule in comparison to this one (Lake Ontario).

After we left Canada, we went to the mountains for the day. I love the mountains so much,
and I look forward to going every year.

I went to the aquarium with my best friend, my brother, and his girlfriend. It was so cool,
and my best friend had never been so it was fun to take her. After the aquarium, we
wandered around the city, and got ice cream.

So those are my highlights of the summer. I have a ton of photos from this summer (almost 3,000), so it was hard to pick just thirteen. I have so many more great memories from this summer, so many more than I even have pictures of. I'm so happy that my summer turned out the way it did. It was full of adventure and beauty and trying new things. If you enjoyed this kind of post, let me know, and maybe I'll do more. I hope your summer is/was amazing, and I'd love to hear about it. Okay, now I really have to go do my summer work that I've been procrastinating doing.

With tons of love,
Em

Back to School with Em: My BTS Playlist

Hey hey hey!! I was planning to do a BTS clothing haul this week, but since I haven't done any shopping yet, I had to change my plan. I rolled with it (cause I'm a kool kat). I decided to do a playlist, because music keeps me sane in the back to school season. I honestly couldn't come up with fifteen school related songs (or actually, even one). Because of that, these are just songs I really like, songs that make make me happy, song that I would actually listen too (and will actually listen to) when I got back to school. Here we go!!

Shape of Love // Passenger
The Middle // Jimmy Eat World
Cool Kids // Echosmith
Arabella // Arctic Monkeys
Where Did Your Heart Go Missing? // Rooney
Getaway // Red Hot Chili Peppers
Troublemaker // Grizfolk
Bubblegum B*tch // Marina and the Diamonds
Shake It Off // Taylor Swift
Bored to Death // Blink-182
Self Esteem// The Offspring
Try// Colbie Caillat
Uptown Funk // Bruno Mars
Handclap // Fitz and the Tantrums
Icarus // Bastille

I hope you find some musical inspiration in this playlist. If it's not your taste, sorry, but it's mine. I know this will make the trauma of going back a lil better for me, and I hope it does the same for you guys :) What's your must have song for school? Lemme know in the comments!

With tons of love,
Emmerz :)

10 Things Every Girl Should Know

Hi guys! So I was on Tumblr, and I found this (I didn't write it), and I wanted to share it with you guys, because I absolutely love it.

1) Learn to put on your bracelets and zip up your dresses by yourself. There will be times when you will be alone.

2) Get on a long plane ride. Look out the window. Understand the immensity of our world.
Understand your insignificance. Understand your absolute importance.

3) Press the send button. If you don’t say it now, you never will.

4) Do not sneer at happiness or roll your eyes at sadness. Be aware that apathy is not healthy.

5) You are more than the amount of people who follow you.

6) That pit in your stomach when he doesn’t text you back, it shouldn’t be there. No one should be able to control you like that.

7) Shopping is cathartic. Buy the shoes and deal with one-ply toilet paper for a while.

8) It will get better, but it will never be perfect. Learn to live through the small moments of happiness. When they disappear, remember they will resurface.

9) I promise that cookie will not change anything (except that it will make you smile).

10) Please, please, take care of yourself. You are everything to somebody. You are everything to your self. That alone is enough.

With tons of love,
Em

ps. I hope your day is going great!

3 YEARS?!?

Hi there! How are y'all doing on this fine day? I gotta say, I'm doin' great!
Maybe some of you are wondering what "3 YEARS?!?" means. You probably think I've finally lost it. But no, I'm just super excited because today is My Life as Your Average Teenager's third birthday. I almost can't believe it. So much has changed.
When I started this blog, I was a scared rising freshman looking for an outlet to talk about high school and all that teenage stuff. I was a thirteen year old who had just gotten their heart broken for the first time, and was worried about upperclassman.
Now, I'm a rising junior who's still figuring life out. Since I started this blog, I've (mostly) figured out high school, I've lost some friends but gained some too, I've had by heart broken, broke some of my own, become an upperclassman (and I will never harass a freshman), had the worst summer of my life, and had the best summer of my life. I've grown, literally and figuratively.
If this blog is not the epitome of being a teenager, I don't know what is. It's only been three years; in the context of life, that's not that long. But so much has changed. And that's okay. I'm okay with that. I'm more than okay with that.
I hope in another year, or two, or three, I'll still be running this blog. Who knows where life will take me. I certainly don't. I want to thank you guys though, for reading my posts, for following me, for commenting, for making this experience worth it. It's been so worth it.
With tons of love,
Emma

Back to School with Em: My School Morning Routine

Hey hola hi!! How are you? I hope you're fantastic!! So, I've been away touring colleges with my family all week, so I'm kinda rushed to write this post, but let's do this! Whoop! By the way, this post will be about the first day of school; typically I leave my hair natural but I like to be a lil fancy for the first day.

Step 1: Finally wake up to one of my seven (yes seven) alarms..

Step 2: Stumble downstairs to get some caffeine, in the form of coffee or tea (I take both black, in case you're wondering, but you're probably not).

Step 3: Go back upstairs to my bathroom with tea or coffee, and wash my face (Neutrogena Gentle Skin Cleanser).

Step 4: Moisturize my face (Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Oil Free Moisture).

Step 5: Put my contacts in, cause seeing is cool.

Step 6: Makeup time! (in order)
*under eye concealer (Maybilline Age Rewind Concealer)
*spot concealer (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Smoothing Stick in shade Light)
*mattifying powder (E.L.F. Translucent Mattifying Powder)
*contour (Mellow Powder Blush in shade Bronze)
*eyebrows (some random dark eyeshadow I've had forever)
*highlight for dat glow (Pixi by Petra Blush Duo in shade Rose Gold)
*curl eyelashes (E.L.F Eyelash Curler)
*mascara (Covergirl Full Lash Bloom)

Step 7: Curl hair with a 1.5 inch iron for loose curls.

Step 8: Get dressed in one of the *fire* outfits that will be in my First Week of School outfits post (coming soon).

Step 9: Eat something.

Step 10: Rush out the door with my brother, pick up my neighbor/best frand, and drive to school.

Step 11: Cry tears of sadness once I arrive at school because summer is over (just kidding) (kind of).

These are my steps to getting ready, Em style. I wasn't sure how to format this, but I hoped you liked it. What's your morning routine like? Comment down below. Also, if you want a more in depth makeup routine or hair routine, comment below. Imma wrap this up because it is super late and I've been traveling all day #dedication (I hate myself). Alrighty.

Emmerz

Back to School With Em: School Essentials

Hey smarties! It's (kind of) back to school season, and this year, I'm doing something cool: Back to School with Em!! This week's Back to School with Em post is a school essentials/must haves. These are my personal essentials; I'm not saying that you have to have this stuff. Without further ado (I literally had to look up how to spell ado. It's one of those things you always say, but then you're like wait what am I actually saying. Just me? Okay.) here are my school essentials!

A large backpack: Okay so some (a lot) of the girls at my school carry these little purses, and then hold their books/lunch/water/prettymucheverythingbecauseletsberealthosepursesaredamnsmall. I'm not about that life. I like to stuff everything in a large (preferably cute) backpack, hoist it onto my shoulders, and go on my way.

Chapstick: I've looked into it, and I'm pretty sure I'm actually addicted to chapstick (kidding) (well sort of)

Mechanical pencils: When the class of 2018 arrived at the high school building two years ago, many dazed and overwhelmed individuals jumped aboard the pen train. But not I. Not I.

My phone: I'm surprised I didn't think of this sooner, considering how addicted my mom thinks I am to it *insert teenage eye roll* How would I write down post ideas or communicate without it.

Earbuds: These go with the phone (duh).

Lunch: I get super hungry so yanno, food. I'm actually hungry right now... brb

Planner: I have the memory of a goldfish when it comes to boring stuff. Sure, I can tell you what color shirt I was wearing on the first day of third grade (white, and it said 'I'm the queen' in glitter). When it comes to homework though, man. I couldn't remember for the life of me. So I write it down.

Hair ties: Once a want, now a need. I have a lab class (Chem) so I need hair ties, lest my hair gets burned off in a laboratory accident including hydrochloric acid and a clumsy lab partner...

The usual school supplies: To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to list them all out. School supplies don't really interest me, but judging from the amount of school supplies hauls on YouTube, I would say it interests other people. I wasn't planning on doing a school supply haul, but if you want one, comment down below.

I hope this post made you smile, inspired you, or at least made you feel a tiny bit better about going back to school. Stay tuned for more Back to School with Em posts, coming to you every Friday until September 2nd (or possibly later).

With tons of love,
Em
